Connecting the patient monitor
The physical distance between the IntelliVue Monitor and the PC: Our information from the
"IntelliVue Patient Monitor Guide" is: The max. cable length between the monitor and the PC should never exceed 100 m in
total.
The monitor data are transferred via the serial interface (RS232) to the PC.
The monitor is connected by a adapter cable (a combination of an adapter, Modular-Adapter DB9F on RJ45F, with a conventional
LAN cable)
with the interface of the PC.
For longer way and distances using the LAN with a LAN to serial converter plus a configured modular adapter and a LAN-Cable.
We tested with the LAN to serial converter "Lantronix".
These equitments can be ordered with our order form.
The Modular-Adapter is completely configured.
LAN interface
You can connect the PM with the LAN interface, here you do not need the modular adapter, only a patch cable.
But you can use the LAN interface only if you do not use the LAN interface for the Information Center of Philips,
than you must use the RS232.
1. System Setup - single monitor connection
- single-user-system with direct connection to the patient monitor
- data acquisition, data storage, and visualization runs on a client (e.g. bedside PC)
- Modules: TrendFace Solo (incl. user interface, driver and manager for one client)
Connection (LAN and serial)
- COM-Port on the PC (any)
- configured modular adapter (if using the RS232 interface)
- patch cabel
2. System Setup - multi monitoring connections
- multi-user-system with direct connection to multiple monitors
- TrendFace installed on clients with dedicated fixed licenses.
E.g.: PC with 3 licenses => PC can view concurrently 3 beds
or 3 PCs each with 1 license => each PC can view one
- Requires serial to LAN adapter from Lantronix
3. System Setup - wireless connections
Same as system setup 1 or 2 using wireless connection
- multi-user-system with direct Wireless connection to multiple monitors
- Requires WLAN and WiBoxLantronix adapter
