ixellence - excellence in informatics and telematics

ixellence was honored in the category of "Apps" with the Telematics Award 2011.

On the 28th of September 2011 the land Ministry of Saxony for economy, labor and transport represented by its deputy Prime Minister Sven Morlok has given awards for the most innovative technologies in HUMAN-Telematics. 18 of 64 applying businesses have been nominated for the Telematik Award 2011. An expert jury under the direction of Mrs. Prof. Wilkes decided and awarded in 8 categories and two special prices.

The application of telematics systems in everyday life is becoming more and more important for personal issues as well as on a business matter. Hence the Telematik Award 2011 honored the most innovative and helpful technologies supporting these two sectors.

We are glad to announce that the ixellence GmbH won in category "Best Telematic-Apps" for its innovative product: ixGyro Glass Cockpit.

ixGyro is the first glass cockpit app for android smartphones. It supports pilots by showing a correct and accurate flight position although there is not a gyroscope onboard (e.g. small aircrafts).

Mr. Prof. Dr. Ralf Vandenhouten, developer of ixGyro: "I've got the idea while flying because I am a sport pilot myself. Usually small aircrafts are lacking a gyrocompass which shows attitude on an artificial horizon. Under bad circumstances of poor visibility such a device could be lifesaving because it helps the pilot keeping his orientation! So I decided to develop an App which (visually) reproduces a common gyrocompass and other important flight instruments and therefore provides more security, especially for sport pilots. more..."
